APMEX
Reviews and Complaints
Shabby and unprofessional customer service
I have been a Apmex customer for years . This year I had about 8500 worth of silver bullion bars stolen from me.
Myself along with the local police department have been trying to get some information about my silver bars. This company has not been able to provide the law enforcement officials with any information related to my stolen silver bars. We have been trying to get information about the location of the bar.
We know Keith Davis stole these bars and took them to a pawnshop but I can not get my bars back without the verification of the IOS numbers off each bar. I would tell anyone considering purchasing metals from the company DONT DO IT they will leave you out to dry if you ask for their help in recovering stolen items
- Out of thousands of dollars because of these incompetent fools

Unprofessional doesn't even begin to describe APMEX!
After establishing a "business" relationship with APMEX for my firm, and doing some business with them, they send me the following email: "As I said previously, we have a new application process that vendors are required to complete to become, or retain status, of being authorized to transact with APMEX. Based on the limited transaction history that you’ve executed over the last 18 months, we feel that we have an inability to meet your needs.
At this point, we’ve made a decision that we are no longer interested in pursuing a business relationship between our companies." Apparently, you really can't do business with APMEX unless you buy in volume.
Yet, nothing in their contract states this. Nice.
LowBall Artists
Bought a whole lot of precious metals from APMEX. Have been dealing with them for several years.
Always thought they were a class operation. They proved me very very wrong. Needed some quick so I asked them to buy back some silver coins. The purchase price for the coins was approx $5500.
The value of the coins (according to the rip artists in question) at the time I offered them for sale was approx $6700. Those rip artists offered me a little less than $4000. I will never purchase from them again and I urge everyone to find a more reputable dealer. I can understand that they can't pay top dollar, but more than $2700 less than their advertised price is a bit ridiculous.
The *** email explanation I got for the pricing was laughable. Seems they only pay REAL prices for coins that they need. They are very happy to sell the coins at inflated prices but then try to burn you when you need to cash some in.
Not much of an investment when you can't get any kind of return for your hard earned money.
Worst company possible!!!!
I ordered a item from Apmex. after 10 day, I did a tracking on the item and noticed that it was in Oklahoma and had not moved.
I contacted EBay who contacted Apmex of my concerns. Ebay advised me that they would have to wait five days before they could get involved. Now fifteen days. Apmex advised us that there is a problem with UPS and they will have to do a investigation.
(DUH) Apmex doesn't follow up on their own deliveries and relies on the customer to do their job for them. I also am advised that Apmex investigation may take THREE WEEKS!!! Really, I'm so glad your so free with my money. I am advising Ebay that this is not acceptable and I would like my money immediately returned.
Since, we known that the problem is with Apmex packaging or UPS shipping, I should be refunded and let Apmex do their wonderful investigation. I still don't know when i'll see my money.
If this doesn't tell you to stay away from Apmex company, I wasted my time and you can find out on your own. Thanks , Wayne

I have a question
i have never purchased from apmex i am considering just reading the reviews and when i was reading the reviews especially the bad ones, a lot of the comments where not bad like this one for example "just know that if you sell your gold back to apmex, you will not get that much for it" for 1, of course you would not, you should be lucky there even considering buying back a product THEY HAVE PLENTY OF! so i need to know if there anyone has had REAL PROBLEMS.
like 1. is the gold real? 2.
did you receive your package? i don't care if it was delayed, THAT IS BOUND TO HAPPEN maybe something occurred, long as they fixed the problem and ship you your gold.

My experience
I am new to precious metals but wanted to add some to my portfolio. I did research to determine what I wanted to buy and then checked several companies to see who had the best price.
Apmex had the best price of any of the 5 companies I checked. I got on the phone and they gave me a price. I kept the representative on the phone for quite awhile and the market price moved up slightly. They honored the originally quoted price.
I received my merchandise in a timely manner - within 10 days, with free shipping and in excellent condition. The merchandise was packed with care securely and the items were exactly as described over the phone when I received them.
They also followed up with a phone call to thank me for my business after my merchandise was delivered. Good work guys.

YOU CAN TRUST APMEX, I GUARANTEE IT!
My coin shop is within 30 miles of APMEX. I order from this very reputable company on a regular basis through their dealer's website at wholesale.apmex.com.
I routinely order the United States one ounce, half ounce, quarter ounce and tenth of an ounce American Gold Eagle gold coins, as well as the one ounce American Gold Buffalo coin. I also buy the one ounce American Silver Eagle Coins by the box; as well as one ounce rounds, and other smaller increment silver bullion. and silver bullion They are an EXTREMELY REPUTABLE company and I can not bring myself to believe that they would defraud anyone.
You can trust APMEX, and I would be willing to guarantee it. JOP
Beware- Bait and Switch!
I have done limited business with Apmex in the past. I recently called Apmex to sell 1921 MS63 Morgan silver dollars.
Their site stated they were out and listed no buy price, so I figured I might get a decent price. When I called, they quoted me a price that was good, so I made the sale. I took them to Apmex in OKC, and they examined, counted, and signed off on the transaction statement, as did I. They took possession of my silver.
I was then notified the next day, they made a "mistake", and they quoted me the price for 1878-**** Morgans. They then gave me a "new price", which was significantly lower. This was AFTER taking my silver and examining each coin! After much insistence on my part that they honor their signed contract, they raised the offer slightly, but it was still significantly lower than the original agreement.
They are either the most incompetent dealer I have seen, or the most deceptive. Either way, they have lost my trust and business forever.
Bait & Switch
I never did business with Apmex until recently. I was looking through the Morgan Silver Dollars.
I saw a PCGS Graded 1895-O which is a top coin and mint mark. I think I saw it on E-bay or Amazon but after purchasing this coin at a really nice price I was waiting for a customer review. Never seeing it I then waited and received the coin however it was in a cheap plastic flip and not the PCGS Case as described. As a matter of fact I even got the authenticity # and had it verified because the price was so low.
I called and explained it was advertised as PCGS graded and that I even had the authentication number cleared on the PCGS website. Then the clerk said Oh no you ordered this other coin. We went in circles and I asked for a manager. Same deal the coin with the PCGS is a few thousand more.
I explained I ordered the Graded coin and by Law you have to oblige what you advertise. There must have been smoke coming out the other end of her phone by now. Then I told her let me tell you I looked this coin over and it looks like a counterfeit. I have collected for years and my eye is trained first as a hunter then in the Military Vietnam and then as a Radiologist.
She assured me they have an onsite Numismatist on site. I thought how convenient. That's why grading companies don't sell because of a conflict of interest. My wife saw I was going back to Nam and calmed me down.
I told her my son is, and he is an Attorney General and if this coin is a counterfeit even if you bought it not knowing it was but sold it, much like Hillary Clinton's emails, ignorance of the Law will not justify your case unlike Killary. Later on I was looking the coin over and found their Numismatist must be a fat slob because I saw a few mg's of egg yoke from an egg McMuffin on the coin under the microscope and the detail even for a Counterfeit is terrible. I saw air holes from the first press of the rounds. The serrations were beaded and many ID's for counterfeit sprung up like red flags.
APMEX the place to get Bait and Switched and a little yoke on the side. I could just picture this guy with a fat gut slobbering his MCD while evaluating coins- EEEHHHHWWW. Very Professional Business. They said they would return my money if I send it back.
Now they will be praying that I send it back but it's evidence now. They could have gotten out of the weeds had they just switched to the original but greed consumed them.. Just watch I'm dropping the hammer on these people.
Mjolnir will fly. They F'd with a Viking.

- Pricing scam
Preferred solution: Live up to the advertised Graded Coin. Grade your coins off site. It's a conflict of interest and no matter what you say don't call me a liar because I ordered the Graded Coin and by law what you advertise you have to stick to that product or equivalent.
Failure to provide item.
has been submitted already . Ebay returned my money.
Apmex refused to take action until Ebay returned the money to my account. Apmex refused to return my money even though they knew the product never left the UPS . Their lack of service and delay tactics is only a taste of their business practices, I will do my shopping elsewhere. Please see my first write up on Apmex on my first post.
I don't know how to obtain the information that you are requesting about url etc.
Please assist me in obtaining that information.I attempted to write a complaint letter to the company on the computer but they didn't like me into their system.
Horrible
I ordered Gold and received an email that there was a problem and call within 48 hours. First problem is that customer service is rarely available.
Secondly I talked to a worker and they said they had an issue because my wife's name is on the order and my name is on the card. I told them to cancel the order and they said they would and the charge will never go past pending status on my bank account. Well it went through and they are not sending me my merchandise. Regulatory agencies are getting a complaint.
They ripped me off $400 with no merchandise. Good luck everyone getting a live person if you have an issue.

Why wouldn't You record the numbers yourself ? Or simply take a photo for insurance purposes? I always photo copy receipts (register receipts fade) and write serial numbers on them for insurance.
It is not the responsibility of the company to keep a a database of the Precious metals you purchase from them. I am not a fan of APMEX because of there prices but blaming the dealer for the mistake you made for not keeping accurate records of the bars you own. It sounds like the fault us all yours and the people that stole your silver.
If your not a fan of APMEX where should i go to buy silver bars that’s reliable and with better prices?
